Mont Kiara FC unbeaten run came to an end

After staying unbeaten since the start of the year, Mont Kiara FC unbeaten run came to an end, losing 3-2 to SMAKL. SMAKL is a local school which came runners up in the U18 Sentul District inter school championship and will represent the district in the State competition.

The game was played under dark clouds but MKFC started brightly by taking the lead on the 10th minute. A poor clearance by SMAKL defender was pick up by Nathan Pike and he slots it home with a stiff grounder. Not many chances was created by both teams where most of the possession was won and lost at the middle of the park. However in the 25th minute, SMAKL drew level. A defensive mistake allowed SMAKL launch a quick counter attack and gave Puvan no chance to make a save. 1-1 at half time.

2nd half, SMAKL have more possession of the ball and MKFC players looks lethargic. Our midfield lost possession too easily and did not win any tackles where SMAKL puts on the pressure whenever MKFC’s players have the ball. SMAKL took the lead early in the 2nd half from a corner. A lapse of concentration allows a SMAKL player sneak to the near post and scored from a tight angle. SMAKL scored another goal 10 minutes later to make it 3-1. Although Osama Saeed score late in the 2nd half to make it 3-2, it is a little too late for a fight back.

MKFC did not play badly,  however some defensive mistakes and lack of tactical discipline cost MKFC the game. There will be lots to work on in training and MKFC shall have a return match soon.
