Mont Kiara FC played its first international friendly this weekend against Roku FC, flying all the way from Saitama, Japan. Mont Kiara FC , for the first time managed to field its strongest line up and secured an impressive 2-0 win over the Japanese side.
Mont Kiara FC started the match cautiously, keeping possession and try not to give the ball away bearing in mind that this unknown Japanese side could hurt the defense by quick counter attacks. As the match goes on, Mont Kiara FC grew in confidence and Nathan Pike was presented a great chance to take the lead but failed to capitalize. However, Roku FC managed to settle down and had Mont Kiara FC defense on the back foot, and Coach Wan needed to make a change.
An adjustment to the back four was needed on the 10th minute and Mohd Izzat was brought on to replace Peter Fu, shifting Nizam Yahya to the left back, thus pairing Nick Ng and Mohd Izzat at the center. That did steady the defense. Another changes was made when Ren Zhi was brought on for Osama Saeed who had to be taken out due to asthma problem. Ren Zhi quickly made an impact to the game and contributed to the first goal. Ren Zhi sends in a perfect long ball for Nathan Pike to chase on. Roku FC’s keeper came off the line tried to clear the ball while under pressure from Nathan, and the ball falls nicely to James Howat. James compose himself and place the shot into the goal with his weaker right foot ( he is a lefty ). 1-0 up ! The half ended with Mont Kiara FC have total control of the match while Roku FC did not even manage a single shot on target.
Mont Kiara FC keep up the good work they did on the first half, keeping the ball nicely and defended well when the lose the ball. Mont Kiara FC managed to contained the Japanese side with all midfielders forming the first wall of defense on the middle of the park. Amir Al Idrus also had the Japanese most impressive player ( No 22 ) at his back pocket, shutting him down using his own strength which is his speed.
Mont Kiara FC scored their deserving 2nd goal with a fantastic shot from Ren Zhi. Receiving the ball from his left, Ren Zhi set himself up and hammer in a shot from 25 meters out that sail past the keeper. A great goal with a touch of class !
The match ended 2-0 with Mont Kiara FC have total control of the match, shutting out the Japanese side with good tactical discipline. All in all, Mont Kiara FC played one of its best match and definitely the club is moving into the right direction
